Updated July 17, 2020.
Rhapsody of the Seas, sailing from Venice in the summer 2021 Europe season, will now sail from a new homeport, Ravenna, Italy. Please note that we will still display as “Venice (Ravenna), Italy” on itineraries.
The port of Ravenna is the main port of Emilia-Romagna. The docks are mainly on a canal that connects the town center of Ravenna, (which is inland), to the sea which is 12 km away. The offshore breakwaters are in the little towns of Porto Corsini and Marina di Ravenna.
Ravenna is known for its well-preserved late Roman and Byzantine architecture, with eight buildings comprising the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Early Christian Monuments of Ravenna”.
As of now, transfer is only loaded from Venice, but we will also be offering transfer from Bologna, a better and closer option to Ravenna. Distance from Venice to Ravenna is 145 km, (about 2 h 30 m drive, depending on traffic), and the distance from Bologna to Ravenna is 83 km. (about 1 h 10 m drive, depending on traffic).
It remains to be seen if we will see any direct flight options for next year, but even now flight itineraries with Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines or Air France/KLM are available at favorable prices.
On March 2nd, 2020, the Azamara Pursuit set sail from Buenos Aires for a 21-day cruise scheduled to explore destinations throughout Argentina, Uruguay, and Chile, before concluding in Peru. However, the COVID-19 pandemic changed those plans. But what didn’t change, and will never change, is our commitment to providing exceptional service at sea.
Today, we want to share the story of how our guests and crew onboard the Azamara Pursuit came together to keep each other healthy, happy, and safe on their extended journey home. Read more here.

The Royal Beach Club Collection
Antigua will be home to new destination concept customized for cruise guests
Royal Caribbean International has announced its newest mission: delivering the ultimate beach day.
The first Royal Beach Club will launch in Antigua, along a half-mile of beachfront near Fort James. The company signed a memorandum of understanding with the Government of Antigua and Barbuda for the project, which is scheduled to open in 2021.
Built for Royal Caribbean guests, The Royal Beach Club at Fort James will combine the island’s striking beaches with the cruise line’s signature service and amenities.
Curated as the ultimate beach experience, The Royal Beach Club Collection will bring the unique features and flavors of each destination to life. In Antigua, guests can take in the island’s exceptional views from private cabanas or plunge into a stunning pool and swim up to the bar to order a classic rum punch.
“The Royal Beach Club Collection is an adventure we cannot wait to reveal to our guests,” said Michael Bayley, President and CEO, Royal Caribbean International. “We have incredible partners in the government of Antigua and Barbuda to bring the first of our collection to life. Together, we are designing an experience that will bring more visitors to these idyllic islands and will create significant economic benefits and opportunities for local employment for years to come.”
The Honorable Charles Fernandez, Minister of Tourism, Economic Development and Investments, Government of Antigua and Barbuda, said: “The Government of Antigua and Barbuda welcomes this multimillion-dollar investment into our tourism product by Royal Caribbean. The economic impact into our economy is projected to be approximately $80 million USD from direct revenue to the Government over the next 30 years and over $1 billion USD in indirect revenue during the same period.”
Fernandez continued: “The project will also provide meaningful employment to Antiguans and Barbudans for both the construction phase and the operations of the project for years to come. We are truly grateful and appreciative that Royal Caribbean’s first Royal Beach Club will be in Antigua, which confirms confidence in our twin island state.”
The Royal Beach Club concept builds on the remarkable success of Royal Caribbean’s new Perfect Day at CocoCay in the Bahamas, but will be distinctly different experience for guests.
“With Royal Beach Club, we’re starting with a great day at a beautiful beach, and adding even more services and activities,” Bayley said. “Each location will feature local food and music, family activities and custom attractions to give everyone plenty of options about how to spend their day by the sea.”
Though Royal does not expect to release specific designs for the Antigua destination for several months, the company expects to offer regional fare, island-style BBQs and live music, along with unforgettable experiences, including such thrills as wave runners, paddle boarding, snorkeling, a family splash pad and stunning pool with swim-up bar.
Watch for more on The Royal Beach Club Collection in the coming months.

Applies to Celebrity Cruises:
Please be advised the pricing structure for the 3rd and 4th guests has recently changed. You will see a varying price for 3rd and 4th guests in a quad stateroom where the 4th guest will be priced lower than the 3rd guest. Before, the 3rd and 4th pricing was the same.
The goal is to offer families of 4 a lower rate for the 4th guest. This can be a really good selling point when there is space to max out a room.
Previously booked groups, cruise tours, charters for example will not be adjusted, this pricing will only affect new bookings and repricing on existing bookings.
Beginning January 1st 2020, we will be discontinuing The DINE • DRINK • DISCOVER program. The program up until 31st December provided additional amenities, included in the price of the stateroom, to guests booked in the Central Park and Boardwalk Balconies.
Guests who are already booked in our Central Park and Boardwalk Balconies on sailings on or after 1 January 2020 will receive $50 non-refundable Onboard Credit, per stateroom, as a goodwill gesture to make up for the change.
Deployment of our new Quantum Ultra class ship, Odyssey of the Seas has opened for sale . Odyssey will be sailing mostly 6 and 8 nights from Fort Lauderdale to Southern & Western Caribbean and Perfect Day CocoCay. On some of the itineraries, two of our most loved ports of call in the Caribbean, Labadee and CocoCay, are included on the same sailing. The inaugural sailing of Odyssey of the Seas is 5th November 2020.
Did you know that RCL has its own coral reef? Located just off the coast of Virginia Key in Miami, the “Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. Reef” (yes, that’s really its name) is an active site for coral reef research, restoration, and citizen science. Royal Caribbean began partnering with University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science “Rescue a Reef” program in 2017, following Hurricane Irma’s destruction of many underwater environments in the area.
Last week, RCL employees met at the Rosenstiel School for a “Corals and Cocktails” presentation by Dalton Hesley, head of the Rescue a Reef program. We learned how the reef, plus our volunteer and sponsorship efforts, specifically aid in the regrowth and survival of area corals key to coastal resilience and the future storm protection of our shores.
Last year, employees of the Port of Miami campus worked together in the 1050 building’s Anchor Plaza to build coral “trees,” structures made of PVC pipe on which small coral pieces are affixed, giving them greater chances to survive and grow new colonies of their own. During dive expeditions employees sourced corals from the “trees” and planted them onto our reef. This year, groups of RCL scuba divers and snorkelers are volunteering their time on follow-up expeditions, to check on these trees and continue the development of our reef.
In the decade since the Rescue a Reef program began, it’s outplanted over 20,000 corals to more than 60 restoration sites in South Florida. These include more than 40 different types of coral colonies, bred in and then transplanted from three main coral nursery sites. The Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. Reef is chiefly Acropora Cervicornis, or “staghorn” corals, that attract marine life to create a lively neighborhood of coral colonies and the fish and aquatic animals that love them.
