Our employees have initiated a large-scale fundraising campaign for those affected by Hurricane Dorian. Over 70.000 people needs immediate relief on the islands Grand Bahama and Abaco. Our ships provide daily supplies of thousands of meals, water, flashlights, generators and other emergency supplies. In addition, sick and injured are evacuated from the islands – and this work continues.
Support the affected by donating an optional amount here: https://www.royalcaribbean.com/cruise-ships/hurricane-disaster-relief. RCL Cruises matches your donation and supports the fundraising with the same amount.

Did you know that RCL has its own coral reef? Located just off the coast of Virginia Key in Miami, the “Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. Reef” (yes, that’s really its name) is an active site for coral reef research, restoration, and citizen science. Royal Caribbean began partnering with University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science “Rescue a Reef” program in 2017, following Hurricane Irma’s destruction of many underwater environments in the area.
Last week, RCL employees met at the Rosenstiel School for a “Corals and Cocktails” presentation by Dalton Hesley, head of the Rescue a Reef program. We learned how the reef, plus our volunteer and sponsorship efforts, specifically aid in the regrowth and survival of area corals key to coastal resilience and the future storm protection of our shores.
Last year, employees of the Port of Miami campus worked together in the 1050 building’s Anchor Plaza to build coral “trees,” structures made of PVC pipe on which small coral pieces are affixed, giving them greater chances to survive and grow new colonies of their own. During dive expeditions employees sourced corals from the “trees” and planted them onto our reef. This year, groups of RCL scuba divers and snorkelers are volunteering their time on follow-up expeditions, to check on these trees and continue the development of our reef.
In the decade since the Rescue a Reef program began, it’s outplanted over 20,000 corals to more than 60 restoration sites in South Florida. These include more than 40 different types of coral colonies, bred in and then transplanted from three main coral nursery sites. The Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. Reef is chiefly Acropora Cervicornis, or “staghorn” corals, that attract marine life to create a lively neighborhood of coral colonies and the fish and aquatic animals that love them.

In a game-changing moment two years in the making, Celebrity Cruises officially launched the revolutionary new Celebrity Flora a 100-guest, all-suites mega yacht that’s poised to connect travelers to the Galapagos Islands like never before. The ship was welcomed to the brand’s award-winning fleet with a sustainability-focused ceremony where executives, valued travel advisers and journalists joined the ship’s Godmother, environmental advocate and former World Wildlife Fund International President Yolanda Kakabadse, in blessing the ship. In another first, a partnership was announced with EarthEcho International, a nonprofit organization founded by Philippe Cousteau. Jr., to inspire young people to act now for a sustainable future.
The naming ceremony brought together distinguished guests, employees and crew members to commemorate the debut of Celebrity Flora, the first ship of its kind designed specifically for the Galapagos Islands.
During the event, a partnership was revealed with EarthEcho International. Celebrity and the team at the non-profit will work together to introduce a comprehensive and customized youth strategy, designed to empower a new generation of environmental advocates both in the local communities of the Galapagos, as well as aboard Celebrity Flora and Celebrity Xpedition in the region. The program will include:
Celebrity Flora is also one of the most energy-efficient ships in its class, with a 15-percent reduction of fuel consumption and equivalently fewer air emissions, thanks to the introduction of an advanced propulsion system, hull configuration and specially designed diesel engines.
Celebrity Flora’s dynamic positioning is a first in the Galapagos. It has anchorless technology, which maintains the ship’s position while protecting the sensitive sea floor system, with zero speed stabilizers promising smooth sailing throughout.
Celebrity Flora will have in-room water filtration stations and the ability to reuse air conditioning condensation to provide water to the shipboard laundry facilities. Reverse osmosis equipment will be used, so the ship can process sea water into fresh water to supply 100-percent of her needs. Plus, any materials that can be recycled, reused or donated will be as part of a strict waste management system.
Celebrity Flora will sail from Baltra year-round, making its first sailing on June 30, 2019.
We introduce you to a bold new chapter for Azamara Club Cruises as we debut the largest collection of pre-and-post voyage land programs in the cruising industry. More than 1,700 offerings spanning over 41 countries and six continents. Ready to take our guests beyond the coast and deep into the heart of great destinations. Most cruise guests travel to see the land and we help them Explore Further.
Simply put, Azamara Club Cruises is expanding Beyond the Sea. We are now able to combine our voyages with the most intensive experiences on land, this is a game changer. In fact, it’s more than that. It’s a NAME changer. So with that, I am proud to announce that we will officially be removing ‘Club Cruises’ from our name and changing our logo.
Removing “Club Cruises” from our name after nearly a decade of success is a pretty bold move. But that’s what I love about Azamara – we are constantly innovating. We’ve never been confined by convention. If so, we certainly wouldn’t find ourselves at this moment and time.
This evolution to a singular and more impactful brand – Azamara – reflects our expanded commitment to deliver Destination Immersion by both land and sea. It also serves to remind us of who we are. It reminds us that the enduring passion of our company and our guests, for that matter, is to push forward – to see more, do more, experience more. And to do so undaunted. Pushing forward is what got us here … and it’s how we’ll navigate the waters and traverse the exciting new landscapes that lie ahead. This is Azamara, a brand with a clear and concise purpose of connecting people to people and people to cultures.
Azamara. Bold new name. Bold new identity. Both born from a bold new commitment to reach more of the world than even we would have dreamed possible, just a few years ago. We have compiled all the main assets you may need to review the details of the launch below.
Spectrum of the Seas naming ceremony kicked off China season
Spectrum of the Seas, our newest ship, made its highly anticipated debut in China. The first Quantum Ultra Class ship sailed into Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal in Shanghai after completing a 46-night Global Odyssey that spanned 17 cities. In honor of Spectrum arriving to her new home, we celebrated with a grand naming ceremony with Chinese celebrities and Royal Caribbean brand ambassadors, Xiaoming Huang and Angelababy, in attendance. Honored with the lifetime role of Godparents, the popular couple were on hand to name the ship and bestow a blessing of safekeeping over all those who sail on her.
The deployment for Royal Caribbeans Independence of the Seas summer and fall season 2020 is now open for sale.
The ship that revolutionized the cruise industry, Oasis of the Seas, marks its 10-year anniversary with a larger-than-ever, $165 million amplification. The first to introduce the unique seven-neighborhood concept and one-of-a-kind AquaTheater entertainment venue, Royal Caribbean International’s original gamechanger will set a new standard for family vacations with first-to-brand experiences and the latest Royal Caribbean hits. Guest favorites making their way to Oasis as part of the 63-day modernization include a reimagined, Caribbean-inspired pool deck that will feature a Splashaway Bay kids aquapark and The Lime & Coconut signature bar; famed Quantum Class staple, Music Hall; the Perfect Storm trio of waterslides, and the Ultimate Abyss – the tallest slide at sea. Debuting alongside this lineup is the cruise line’s first barbecue concept, Portside BBQ, and dedicated karaoke venue Spotlight Karaoke. The amplified Oasis will set sail on Nov. 24, 2019, beginning 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries from Royal Caribbean’s new, state-of-the-art Terminal A in Miami.
The architectural marvel will break even more records when she heads to the Big Apple in May 2020 as the largest ship to sail from the New York area. Oasis will reposition to her new summer home at Cape Liberty in Bayonne, New Jersey, offering 7-night sailings to The Bahamas with visits to Royal Caribbean’s newly transformed private island destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay.
“When Oasis of the Seas debuted as the world’s largest and most groundbreaking cruise ship a decade ago, the typical cruise vacation as the world knew it was forever changed. Today, our Oasis Class ships continue to lead the industry and attract vacationers new to cruising,” said Michael Bayley, President and CEO, Royal Caribbean International. “Now with the opportunity to disrupt the industry once again, we’ve gone all-in with our biggest and boldest amplification yet. Oasis will turn heads when she arrives to Miami this November and the Northeast in May 2020.”
The first ship designed specifically for the beautiful Galapagos Islands – Celebrity Cruises’ revolutionary Celebrity Flora – is preparing to embark on her transatlantic journey to her new home in the diverse archipelago following an intimate delivery ceremony.
In honor of the significant moment – a culmination of more than two years of planning and 18 months of construction – Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.’s Chairman and CEO Richard D. Fain hosted a ceremony aboard Celebrity Flora, while docked in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Company and shipyard executives were also in attendance, plus more than 70 crew members, many of whom are Ecuadorian natives.
The most energy-efficient ship of its kind in the region, the 100-guest Celebrity Flora was designed specifically to explore the Galapagos. The cutting-edge new ship will feature Celebrity’s signature outward-facing design concept, giving guests 360-degree views of the islands, and all-suite accommodations – including an unprecedented 50-percent Sky Suites with Infinite Veranda – with service provided by personal attendants. Unique to Celebrity Flora are the first-ever glamping experience at sea, new dining venues, an open-air stargazing platform, expert-led ecological seminars, and custom-designed Novurania yacht tenders, which create a seamless sea-to-shore experience.
Celebrity Flora will sail from Baltra year-round, making her first sailing on June 30, 2019, the ship offers seven-night inner and outer loop itineraries and selection of 10-, 11-, and 16-night packages, which feature either pre- or post-cruise expeditions.
After four years of planning and 14 months of building, it’s finally here — Perfect Day at CocoCay is officially open. Our first guests at the Grand Opening this past Saturday could not believe their eyes. Check out this video to hear from them.
The introduction of our upcoming itineraries is always an exciting time at Azamara. But this one feels extra special because, for 2021 and 2022, we’re taking our commitment to Destination Immersion® experiences even further.
Of course, we’ll continue with our bucket-list favorites with the addition of springtime country-intensive voyages through Japan. However, we’re also adding a few soon-to-be favorites, including new intensive voyages through the Black Sea and even deeper explorations into Turkey.
Our new schedule also expands our promise to deliver more time in port and more enriching travel experiences for our guests. In fact, for 2021 and 2022 we’ll offer more than 140 overnights in amazing locations around the world. In Spain and France alone we’ll more than double the number of overnight calls we had in 2015.
We’ve also extended our reach by adding 10 maiden ports across several countries and continents including Chile, Australia, Ecuador, Greece, Ghana and more.
As always, in every destination we visit, we’re making sure our guests have exciting ways to reach out, explore, and discover local life. Experiences like a hands-on Andalusian cooking workshop in Seville; a wine journey at a family chateau in France’s Loire Valley; and an “Evening Foodie Experience” in Istanbul – a delicious night out highlighted by the chance to sample over 12 Turkish specialties, from kebabs to baklava.
For guests with a little extra time on their hands, we’re adding a number of new “Grand Voyages” that invite them to combine back-to-back sailings to create one extended journey. Imagine embarking on a 69-night circumnavigation of South America that spans 32 incredible countries and sails through the Antarctic Sound. We’re not just making it possible, we’re rewarding these intrepid travelers with onboard credits during every leg and free Wi-Fi throughout the voyage.
At Azamara, we made a promise long ago to connect our guests with new people, new cultures, and, ultimately, those places within themselves that only travel can reach. Our 2021/22 schedule proves that we continue to grow this commitment with nearly 300 unique ports across 77 countries.
